This weekend is causing a stir in the East Midlands with a fast growing reputation as THE event to attend on the calendar for 2024.

After the success of 2023, we are pleased to announce the return of The Belvoir Castle Canicross Races 2024 (as part of the Belvoir Castle Multisport Weekend).

Within the Event Village - We will be joined by Snow Paw Store for all your canicross and doggy retail needs. Also joining us will be ThreePeaksNaturals providing the tastiest natural treats and prizes for your dogi pals.

Presentation: 15 mins After the last finisher.

As part of our T&C’s we do NOT issue refunds/transfers if you no longer can make the event due to a change in start times or delayed starts.

The start times will NOT change drastically from the times listed.

We will however give refunds or transfers to future events if the weather temperatures dictate that we are unable to run the event. Animal welfare is paramount and we will not put any dogs at risk.

    ↠ Mostly all on grass, trails with a small amount on tarmac.

    ↠ The majority of the run courses are off-road so you will need grippy running shoes (ideally trail shoes) NO SPIKES.

    ↠ Temperatures/Dog Welfare - We have made the event early in the morning, possibly even starting at 5:30am- 6am (we'll confirm nearer the time depending on weather forecast) so it will still be at a comfortable temperature for the dogs.

    20km Canicross: Entrants must be 18 years of age or older in order to participate

    10km Canicross: Entrants must be 15 years of age or older in order to participate

    5km Canicross: Entrants must be 11 years of age or older in order to participate

    2.5km Canicross: All ages

    We will give refunds or issue transfer credits to be used towards any of our future events in the next 12 months should the weather/temperatures dictate we are unable to run the event.

  • - The majority of the run courses are off-road so you will need grippy running shoes (ideally trail shoes) NO SPIKES.

    - Dogs must wear a suitable harness and be attached to their handler by a line containing some bungee to act as a shock absorber.

    - We aren’t requesting a specific lead length but please keep it “short” and appropriate for the route.

    - No head collars, shock collars, choke chains or flexi leads are permitted. Whips are not permitted.

    - Muzzles may be used but they must be the open, basket type, through which dogs can drink and take treats.

    - Runners are not allowed to wear shoes that could be dangerous for dogs. Shoes with metal spikes are strictly forbidden.

    - Exceptions may be granted regarding the above equipment requirements if a competitor is learning how to canicross (debut), then a hand-held leash and flat (classic) collar will be accepted.

  • ↠ 5:00am Registration Opens

    ↠ Bag Drop Zone will be connected to Registration and hand over to the persons behind Registration.

    ↠ Recovery of your bag will require you to show your race number.

  • ↠ At registration you will receive your race numbers with timing chips and have the option to drop a bag off.

  • ↠ Prizes will be awarded to the fastest 1st, 2nd & 3rd Open/Pooch in each distance

    ↠ 1st, 2nd & 3rd Female/Pooch in each distance

    ↠ 1st, 2nd & 3rd Relay Team

  • ↠ Control of your dog is required at all times.

    ↠ You must also ensure that your dog is on-lead at all times during the entire event.

    ↠ - We welcome any breed or cross breed of dog, but they must be at least 12 months old

    ↠ When participating, you must take full responsibility for your health and your dog's health. Any rescue or rescue costs must be borne by you, the participant.

    ↠ Due to the possibility of having to carry out overtaking manoeuvres, it is also particularly important that your dog is strong enough and well trained enough to avoid problems. We will not condone dangerous overtaking manoeuvres at the risk of injuring your dog. If this happens and you have not overtaken in a safe manner/place we will not accept any liability to injuries to yourself or your dog.

    ↠ Your dog must be in front of you at all times and they must not be dragged at any point.

    ↠ When overtaking other runners on narrow trails, call before overtaking. If being overtaken, keep your dog close.

    ↠ When passing other runners, each party should ensure this is done safely, allowing plenty of space for each runner and ensuring dogs do not become tangled.

    ↠ The competitor that is being overtaken must assume responsibility to ensure that their dogs are to one side of the track and do not interfere with the runner going past.

    ↠ A participant who fails to comply with the regulations set forth in these regulations may be excluded from the event (even without warning), with a starting fee already paid.

    ↠ The rightful owner of a dog is required to have liability insurance (or family insurance) for any damages that their dog may commit, or injuries that the dog may cause.

    ↠ The rightful owner of a dog is the person named as such in the dog’s vaccination book and/or official paperwork. The rightful owner must ensure that the animal is owned (cared for) in accordance with the law.

    ↠ In the case of an incident or accident, as the owner, you are responsible for your dog. EndorphinSport cannot be held responsible for any problems with third parties. Therefore, as the participant, you must ensure that you have taken out liability insurance for your dog.

    ↠ The event will be covered by public liability insurance as standard.

Doggy Aquathlon Event Information.

  • Lake Swim: 80m

    Run: 2.5km OR 5km

  • ↠ This is an exclusive opportunity to swim in the lake looking up to the epic Belvoir Castle.

    ↠ Wetsuits are optional, if you don’t have a wetsuit, it may be a good idea to wear a tight fitting light weight or swim skin top to protect your skin against potential scratches.

    ↠ There will be water safety kayaks out on the lake at all times.

    ↠ Lifejackets for the dogs are optional but can help greatly with confidence and peace of mind.

    ↠ We have partnered with the Snow Paw Store who have kindly offered an introductory discount to our entrants and the availability to either rent or buy a life jacket with a saving. Please email us as info@endorphinsport.com for details/code ONCE you have signed up.

  • ↠ After you exit your swim, you will run up to the Transition a short run/walk away.

    ↠ As soon as you enter Transition, please WALK to clip your dog onto a stake out line or have a family/friend to hold them whilst you get ready for your run, i.e take off wetsuit (if wearing one), put on your trainers etc.

    ↠ You will then attach your bungee lead to your dogs harness and WALK OUT of transition to the Run Start.

    ↠ If your dog suffers with their feet pads getting sore after coming out of water, we recommend doggy boots that will protect their feet and can be worn in the water too)

    ↠ The run out the water is on grass/Transition is on grass but then the first part of the run is on tarmac then off onto a mixture of grass and hard packed trail.

  • ↠ The run is a mixture of tarmac (the estate roads) into grass and hard packed trail around Bignalls Wood, an option of 2.5km and 5km.

    ↠ The majority of the run courses are off-road so you will need grippy running shoes (ideally trail shoes) NO SPIKES.

  • ↠ 1st Pair (made up of a hound and human) completes the swim leg, tags over your dog and hands over the timing chip in Transition to the 2nd Person who then completes the run leg and runs into Finish.
